24/7 Emergency Gas Engineer in Greater Manchester

If you suspect a gas leak or smell gas (a pungent, sulphurous rotten egg odour), follow these immediate life safety actions before our engineer arrives:

1. Turn Off Your Gas Supply Immediately: Turn off the emergency control valve (ECV) located beside your gas meter by turning the handle a quarter-turn so it is perpendicular to the pipe.
2. Extinguish All Naked Flames: Put out cigarettes, candles, or pilot lights immediately. Never light matches, lighters, or candles.
3. Do NOT Touch Electrical Switches: Do not turn light switches ON or OFF, do not use plug sockets, and do not ring doorbells or use landlines inside—electrical sparks can ignite gas vapour.
4. Open All Windows & Doors Wide: Maximize cross-ventilation to disperse gas concentrations quickly into the open air.
5. Evacuate the Building Immediately: Ensure all family members and pets leave the property at once, leaving doors open behind you.
6. Call Our Emergency Dispatcher: Call Gas Safety Manchester on 07546 245568 from outside the property, or the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.

Our emergency team carries calibrated gas sniffer probes, electronic methane detectors, and digital manometers to locate concealed leaks behind walls, under floorboards, or within boiler combustion chambers:

• Acoustic & Electronic Leak Tracing: Accurately isolating leaks without unnecessary wall or floor damage. • Immediate Copper Pipework Repairs: Replacing fractured fittings, corroded valves, and leaking gas joints on the spot. • Dangerous Fault Isolation & Safety Notice: Safely isolating hazardous appliances and issuing official Gas Safe Warning Notices (ID/AR) to protect lives.
